Three eccentric, disaster-prone Southern sisters in a small Mississippi town in the 1970ies reunite after Babe, the youngest, has just shot her abusive husband. Meg has returned from California where her singing career has gone to pieces. And Lenny has dedicated her life to the care of old Grandaddy, who raised them after their mother hung herself together with the family cat. Warm-hearted, irreverent and zany, the play is packed with humanity and humour as it examines the tragically twisted lives of the McGrath sisters and those in their wake, who are all betrayed by their passions. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1981, this touching, dark and often funny story leaves you wondering if your family is really the craziest of them all.
The moving targets theatre ensemble was founded by members of the Bonn University Shakespeare Company and the Bonn Players in 2017. The group is project-orientated and aims at producing contemporary (anglophone) plays for smaller casts. Past productions include „The Last of the Haussmans“ by Stephen Beresford and „The Last Days of Judas Iscariot“ by Stephen Adly Guirgis, both marking the first ever production of the respective play in Germany.
